Privacy Policy
Effective November 1, 2026
The short version: Crumbs has no account, no ads and no tracking. Your recipes, photos, meal plan and shopping list are stored on your device, and we never see them.
Crumbs is made by Sparky Games (“we”). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the Crumbs app for iPhone and iPad.
What stays on your device
Everything you put into Crumbs is saved only on your iPhone or iPad: your recipes, recipe photos, collections, ratings, notes, meal plan, shopping list and settings. We don’t run a server that stores your recipes, and there is no account to sign in to.
If you delete Crumbs, this data is deleted with it, unless you’ve made a backup.
Things that reach the internet
Importing a recipe from a link
When you paste a link, Crumbs downloads that web page directly from the website, the same way Safari would, and reads the recipe out of it. For a Pinterest pin, Crumbs loads the pin and then the recipe site it links to. The website sees an ordinary request from your device, including your IP address. Crumbs doesn’t send the link or the recipe to us.
The built-in browser
Some sites block apps, so Crumbs can open them in a built-in browser. Pages you visit there work like any web page: the site, and any ads or trackers that site uses, may see your visit under that site’s own privacy policy. We don’t see what you browse.
Recipe photos
When an imported recipe has a photo, Crumbs downloads it from the website and saves it on your device.
Purchases
Crumbs Pro and tips are bought through Apple’s App Store. Apple handles payment; we never see your card or Apple ID. We use RevenueCat to confirm and restore purchases. RevenueCat receives your App Store purchase records together with a random, anonymous ID that it creates. It is not linked to your name, email or Apple ID by us. RevenueCat’s privacy policy.
Things that never leave your device
- Scanning. When you scan a recipe card or cookbook page, the text is recognized on your device by Apple’s built-in text recognition. The photo isn’t uploaded anywhere.
- Photos and camera. Crumbs asks for access only when you add a photo or scan. Photos you choose are copied into Crumbs on your device.
- Timer alerts. Kitchen timer notifications are scheduled on your device. No push service is involved.
Backups
When you tap “Back up my recipes”, Crumbs makes a file and opens the share sheet. You choose where it goes (for example iCloud Drive, Files or AirDrop). We never receive a copy.
What we don’t do
- No advertising, and no ad networks.
- No analytics or usage tracking.
- No tracking across other companies’ apps and websites, and no advertising identifier.
- We don’t sell or share personal information.
Children
Crumbs doesn’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Your choices
You can delete any recipe at any time, or erase everything in Settings → Erase everything. Because we don’t hold your data, there is nothing for us to export or delete on our side. For questions about purchase records, contact us and we’ll help.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects what leaves your device, we’ll also mention it in the app’s release notes.
